If you want to help write English transcripts and/or translations to other languages, leave them in comments to the appropriate comic. If not in English, put the language in the subject line of your comment. We eventually want to have all translations right here, instead of using Google Translate.

Just look at how I transcribed them and use that as a model. Don't worry if it isn't perfect. Extra points for those who take time to translate my other ramblings in the box under the comic, but no paints taken off for those who stick to just the content of the comic.

If translating to a language in which the joke (like all my bad puns) don't make sense, it'd be nice if you could explain the joke.

And why didn't I think of this before? Because I'm a dork; that's why. Yes, I am a whale's penis (the original meaning of the word, "dork").

You may have noticed the translation bar at the top of the page and at the beginning of the news and transcript box below the comic, below the social bookmarking and rss feed service buttons. I haven't given up on on-site translation, though. On-site translation will have the advantage of letting those with the proper permissions explain the jokes (like puns) that may not make sense in other languages.

I'll copy and paste the English versions into the body of the comic itself, and once I get things set up for on-page translation, I'll do the same with any translations.

For now, enjoy the Google translations, and let your non-English speaking friends know about them! Someone just reminded me that the Google translations are, shall we say, less than perfect. You can, however, mouse over the text on the translation and suggest a better translation. Please do!

Once we get a significant number of comics transcribed, I'd like to get BCK submitted to some non-English webcomic lists, too, and I'll need help with that.

I'll find some way of rewarding people--maybe by giving them access to the "no-ads" layout that paid users have access to--who transcribe a large number of comics, although I haven't settled on a number yet--Maybe it'll just be the top ten transcriptionists. Of maybe it'll be anyone who does over a certain number.

I know that being able to read the strip ad-free isn't much of a reward, but we're not even making the bills right now (We pay for the server before we pay rent or groceries, since we also do web hosting.) so that is about all I can do. Sorry about that. And no, this is not a plea for donations--You people have done so much for us already that it is almost embarrassing! It's just an apology and an explanation to the transcribers that I can't do more for you.

(If you're not aware of the "paid user" thing, it is because with the irregularities of late, I haven't been pushing. Basically, anyone who donates fifteen dollars or more gets a year of access to the ad-free layouts and a few other special permissions. Due to the hiatuses over the past year, I'm extending those permissions to previous donors for as long as the comic runs.)

Thanks!

English/Portuguese translation

I've checked the Google translation for Portuguese, and unfortunetly the translator only works word by word, so it makes most of the phases kinda hard to understand ^^"

I'm still wanting to help with the translation, I'm just waiting for some contact to start with it (A little busy irl,so I can't start right now)

And therein lies the difficulty. There is a feature on the translation page that allows one to suggest a better translation, though, and when I finally get on-page translations going I'll simply cut and paste the Google translations, then allow certain readers (like you) permissions to improve them. Over time, the translations should get more accurate as more and more people correct them.
