As you know, Shan's had some health issues, so while she finishes recovering, I went looking for a fill-in artist. I wanted someone local, so the first guy I called was my buddy Mike Roach. You may not know of him, but he's a kick-ass artist who graduated from KU with a BFA concentration in drawing and, I believe, a minor in metal sculpting (or metal working, or something like that). If you page through the archives you can see some of his rough concept sketches (I think they took him all of fifteen minutes apiece) when we were kicking around making the 01Project: SyberFang novel I've been putting on hold into a graphic novel (which may still happen).
Of course, I also thought of all the other killer artists that we know, like Joy Ruan (I think her manga stuff is taking up most of her time these days--and I really need to link to her), Roman "the guest art king" Wunderlich, Vince Suzukawa (who also, I believe, has a very busy schedule), and a bunch more, but yeah--Like I said, I wanted to work with someone local, and I'm not even sure any of you other guys would have time.
So anyway... Mike and I are going to be getting together tomorrow night once he finishes his podcast (which I will link to as well) to start laying out the rest of the Christmas storyline and the post-Christmas storyline, while Shan continues to recover and work on the storyline after that one.
His style isn't the same as Shan's, but I think you'll enjoy it.
Yeah, I would have time to
Yeah, I would have time to do stuff every once in a while, but my style isn't really like Shan's work either.[

I did think of calling you
I did think of calling you to fill in, too, ya know, and I'd love it if you could do some stuff on occasion when it works with your schedule. Part of why I called Mike first was that we were going to do SyberFang together, but I flaked on that.
Of course also, I'm less worried about Mike hurting me with genetically encoded martial arts when I start being a prima donna asshole, 'cause I think I can run faster scared than he can mad, and you might be able to catch me. *grins*
Well, unless I threw shinies on the ground behind me. Ooh! That gives me an idea! You know, I never DID establish what the wereferret's weakness is, did I? Hmmmm...
Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I didn't forget your artistic ablities.

Dude, I really appreciate
Dude, I really appreciate that. ANd if you weren't mentioned above it's just that if I'd mentioned everyone it would have taken all night to post.
:-D
BTW, the piece you sent in actually changed the storyline a little because I decided to make it canon. That you had drawn in Crash was why I decided to send her to the bar, too. I just had this image in my head of Blue hanging off the ceiling asking stupid questions, and having Crash there in the final scene gave Melvin someone to hang out with while Blue partied with his new friends, AND allowed for a dialogue exchange instead of having Melvin do a soliloquy (sp).
Heh! The only other time I've made a guest strip canon was when Roman sent in that bit with Blue modeling the armor.

Heee thanks!
I'm glad to have helped! I hope to send more fanart for you though, heh heh! And that's a big honor to have a guest strip of mine become canon! I am totally honored, thank you!
